Ronald Music – 1967

Ronald MusicRon Music was a six time letter winner at Stivers High School. In his senior year in 1967, he was named to the All-City First Team in baseball as an outfielder. He batted .368 that year and stole 20 bases out of 21 attempts. That was a very talented All-City team. Steve Yeager who caught for the L.A. Dodgers for 12 years was on that team, and Mike Schmidt only made Honorable Mention!

After high school Ron played baseball at Findlay College for one year. He decided to enter the work field and got married to his high school sweetheart, Laura Tipton. He later attended and graduated from Wright State University where he received his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Education and Counseling.

Ron taught math for many years and coached at Ferguson Junior High School in Beavercreek, as Ed Zinc’s assistant girl’s varsity basketball coach. He then took a counseling position at Bellbrook Junior High School where he retired from in 2008 after 30 years of teaching, counseling and coaching. After coaching boy’s teams for many years he decided to turn his full attention to coaching girl’s basketball. He was Bellbrook High School girl’s varsity head coach for four years. His teams won the Southwestern Buckeye League title all four years going, 40-0 in the league during that time. He was named Coach of the Year all four years and District 15 Coach of the Year twice. His record at Bellbrook was 68-19. He was also the assistant girls coach at Bellbrook H.S. in 1997 when they were league and District Champs and played in the Regional Semi-finals.

In addition he coached the Dayton Lady Hoopstars AAU Team for ten years. During that time his teams won 6 State Championships, a Final Four finish in the National Tournament and 3 National Championship Runner-up titles. More than 20 girls from his teams received scholarships at major universities.

Ron has been married to his wife, Laura, for 45 years and they have two children (Nick and Mica). He also has three granddaughters (Taylor, Addysen and Peyton) and one grandson (Bradlee).
