Harold was a 1953 Stivers graduate who took from Stivers a good education and a welldeveloped athleticism into outstanding coaching and business careers.
Harold was a distance runner in both cross country and track while at Stivers and competed for 3 years. Harold was a pioneer in the Wright State swimming program, serving as both an assistant coach and head coach during the period 1973 until about 2013.
He primarily worked with the diving team and coached 11 All American swimmers during his tenure. Harold also had two YMCA National Champions and one National Junior Olympic Champion during his coaching career.
Harold’s son, Rick Miller, was an outstanding diver and is a current member of the Wright State Athletic Hall of Fame.
It should be noted that Harold was a 2019 inductee into the Wright State Hall of Fame. Harold was equally successful as a local business man. He was a tool designer and salesman by trade and quickly enjoyed success.
He partnered with Stivers classmate, Don Beasley, to purchase a local engineering firm. He and Don later established Proto Type Industries which his daughter, Susan, and son, Mike, continue to operate today.
Regrettably, Harold passed in late 2018 leaving his wife, Kay; children, Susan, Mike, Brad, and Rick; 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Harold had a life well lived.
