George was a three sport athlete at Stivers High School, excelling in track, baseball and football. He earned varsity letters in all three sports. He captained with Stivers’ Hall of Famer, Lee Fenner on the 1935 Stivers City Championship football team. A Dayton Daily News article mentioned George as one of the best tackles in the city league and was named on the All-City Team his senior year.
After high school George married Betty Miller in 1939. It was a rare union considering Betty was a 1938 graduate of Stivers’ arch rival Steele High School. They were married 46 years until George’s death in 1985.
During the war years George worked at Air Products which produced parts for airplanes to help support the war efforts.
He later worked for NCR, Peterson Construction and as a truck driver for various companies. In the early 1960’s George was in a car accident which left him disabled from working any longer. This made it difficult for George and his family considering he and Betty had 14 children. In his later years he loved attending his son Joe’s Stivers’ High School baseball games and later his softball games. George was definitely one of the “most unforgettable characters”. There was never a dull moment around George Eisen.
His 14 children were/are Tommy (deceased), Judy (deceased), Linda (deceased), Jan (deceased), Joe, Bobby, Susan, Cathy (deceased), Mary (deceased), Timmy, Ricky (deceased), Mike, Toni (deceased) and Billy.
