Morgan (Davis) Brown was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio by parents Janet and Ralph Davis, Sr. She gained her love for sports from her brothers, Ralph (Stivers2004) and Nathan (Stivers 2009 and fellow Hall of Famer). She was introduced to organized sports in seventh grade when she was enrolled at Stivers School for the Arts.
Morgan’s magnet was choir but she was a natural athlete with high energy and determination to see herself and fellow teammates succeed. The ambition and tenacity Morgan showed in middle school gained the attention of the varsity coaches in high school. Morgan became a well distinguished three sport varsity athlete at Stivers. She earned 12 varsity letters, 4 in volleyball (setter), 4 in basketball (point guard), 4 in track and field (100m hurdles, 4×100, 4×200 and 4×400). She has earned such accolades as First Team All-City for Volleyball, Honorable Mention for Basketball, and was a regional qualifier for the 100m Hurdles. She served as team captain for all three sports her junior and senior year.
Stivers School for the Arts girls basketball coach Roland Parks stated “I have her listed as 5’6”, but regardless, she plays like 6’5. She can flat out play the post.” Davis was a key figure as the Tigers left the starting gate with 6-3 record, led the team in treys, shot 45% from the field, and averaged 5.2 assists per game. The little giant also averaged 7.0 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game. Scoring wise, she averaged 10.5 points per game with a single game best of 17.
Parks saidthe most impressive thing about Davis is “her consistency and excellent attitude. She’s so coachable, listens well and then goes out and executes.”
Morgan received athletic scholarships from Sinclair Community College for volleyball and basketball while she pursued and obtained her Associate of Arts Degree in Physical Education. She is finishing her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education with the University of Cincinnati while working full time with Trotwood Madison Schools.
