Tyler Johnson – Class of 2016

Tyler Johnson is arguably the best track sprinter in the 100+ year history of Stivers.

His athletic career is on going and in order to cover all his achievements we have needed to consolidate them in the list below:

Stivers School for the Arts

  • 6 x State of Ohio event champion
  • Stivers record time in the 100m, 200m, 400m
  • Division 2 OHSAA state record in the 400m
  • In 2015, Hershey National Champion (200m, 400m)
  • In 2015, Bronze Medalist, U18 USATF World Trials

Eastern Michigan University

  • In 2018, 2 x Mid-American Conference Champion in 4x400m
  • School record in the 4x400m
  • In 2018, Mid-American Conference Freshman of the Year
  • In 2018, Mid-American Conference Team Championship(Indoor and Outdoor)

The Ohio State University

  • 5 Year Varsity Letters
  • 9 x Big Ten Champion (400m, 200m,4x400m, 4x100m)
  • Big Ten/Program Record Holder(Indoor 400m)
  • Great Lakes Region Athlete of the Year (2021)

Next up for Tyler are the Indoor/Outdoor Track and Field World Championships, then the Olympics. He has his sights set on a Professional track career and eventually a position in sports administration. Tyler gives his OSU track coach, Karen Dennis, a great deal of credit for his success.
