Majorettes, Stiverettes, Band

During the transition of Stivers in the last 25 years going from a high school, then joining with Patterson Co-op being called Stivers-Patterson, changing again to Stivers Middle School then finally moving into the arts and becoming Stivers School for the Arts, football, the marching band, the majorettes and the drill team have gone by the wayside but the memories of those golden years still linger.

The majorettes, marching band and the Stiverettes drill team were an integral part of the sports program at Stivers. They practiced almost the same schedule as the football team. In the summer they practiced daily, long before school was back in session as well as every evening after school started. There was music to be learned, routines and formations to be created and learned and then put the three groups together for perfect harmony.

As the cheerleaders shouted their rah-rah-rah’s from the sidelines keeping the crowds cheering for their team, the majorettes, band and Stiverettes were getting into formation at the end of the field getting ready for their half-time appearance. Nothing made them prouder than when they marched down the field to the Stivers Fight Song and showed that all their hard work paid off with a performance well done.

The Stivers Athletic Hall of Fame proudly gives honor to those majorettes, band and drill team members past and present who always did Stivers proud.
