Jack Jones 1949

Jack played on the Belmont basketball team as a freshman and came to Stivers as a sophomore. In 1948 he was All-City in baseball. In 1949 he was All-City, All-District and 2nd team All-State in basketball & baseball. He was captain of the All-City and All-District basketball teams. As a member of the State All-Star basketball team he played against All-Star teams from Kentuckey and Indiana. In baseball he led the team in hitting and was the Summer League Batting Champion. He was named the most outstanding player at the Red’s baseball tryouts in Dayton. Jack served as a class officer at both Belmont and Stivers and received a Citizens Award at both schools. Jack was a starting player for 3 years in both basketball and baseball at the Ohio State University and was an All-Big Ten third baseman.
