Jack Tinsley 1952

Jack began his Stivers career as a sophomore in 1949. He was the starting center on the 10-0 City Reserve Championship basket ball team. Jack was center on the 1951 (15- 6) City and District Championship Team. He was leading scorer, free throw shooter and rebounder. He was selected Player of The Week. named to the All-City, the All-District and Honorable Mention All-State teams. As a senior, to add more height to the team, he was switched to forward on the 1952 (18-3) City & District 2nd place team. Jack again was elected to the All-City team. He ran cross-country, was 2nd in the high jump and a member of the 3rd place 4 x 440 team in the Dayton Relays. An A-B student, Jack was a member of the Stivers National Honor Society He served 12 active duty years in the Air Force and retired from WPAFB after 21 years. Jack and his wife, Barbara, have 1 son and still live in the Dayton area. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
