An outstanding member of the Stivers Class of 1956, Jack excelled in football, track and gymnastics. The major highlights of Jack’s athletic career include; 1955 YMCA Swim Team-National Champ; 1955 & 1956 Stivers . Football – All City Safety; 1956 Stivers Gymnastic Team; 1956 Stivers Scholar Athlete of the Year; 1958-1961 Florida and Georgia – Tumbling Champ; 1958 and 1960 Florida Trampoline Champion; 1958 and 1961 Georgia Trampoline Champ; 1959 Southern Intercollegiate Tumbling Champ; 1959-1961 Florida State. U. Mascot “Sammy Seminole”; 1960-1961 Florida State U. Yearbook Sports Editor; 1961 NCAA National Tumbling Champion;1961 Florida State U. Athletic Hall of Fame: 1961 NCAA Gymnastic All American; 1961 The American Colleges & Universities Who’s Who. In 1968 Jack died in auto accident at the age of 30. Jack’s parents. Mr. & Mrs. Deo Ryder, still reside in the Dayton area.
