Tom Gompf 1957

Tom is one ot the most outstanding students ever to attend Stivers High School. In 1956 and 1957 he was a member of the Stivers gymnastic team. Some of the highlights of Tom’s 50 year athletic career include: Diving Championships, 5 National YMCA, 2 AAU Junior National, 4 Foreign National and 2 World. His Gymnastic Championships include: NCAA National Trampoline (Ohio State) and National AAU Trampoline, Tom was the 1964 Tokyo Olympic Bronze Medalist and he served on the U.S. Olympic Committee Executive Board of Directors. He was inducted into the Sports Halls of Fame at the University of Miami FL in 1994, Ohio State University in 1999 and the International Swimming in 2002. Tom served his country flying several hundred missions in Vietnam from 1965-1967. After his service discharge he became a commercial pilot from 1967-2000. He and his wife, Joyce, have 2 children, 7 grandchildren and live in Plant City. FL.
