Larry Ferguson was an outstanding student and athlete who earned eight letters during his Stivers athletic career. Larry lettered three years in football as an offensive and defensive end and he Co-captained the 1953 team. He earned All-City honors as an offensive end in his senior year and 2nd Team All-City as a junior.
Ferguson was a three year letter winner in baseball as a starting pitcher. He was an important player on the Stivers 1953 baseball city Co-Championship Team.
Larry played four years of basketball and was the starting center in his senior year. He also ran track as a freshman and won the Mile race in the City Championship meet. Not only was Larry an excellent athlete, he was also in the National Honor Society and he was named the Stivers Scholar-Athlete in his senior year.
Larry attended Purdue University and graduated with an Electrical Engineering degree in 1958. He played football 4 years at Purdue and earned a letter in his senior year. He worked at NCR, Xerox and the U.S. Air Force, retiring in 1999. Larry and his Stivers classmate, Mary Byard, have been married 51 years and reside in Kettering, Ohio. They have three children and two grandchildren.
