Harry Bell 1953

Harry was a two year starter in football playing center on offense and nose guard on the defense. He was an excellent blocker who played an important role in the Tiger offense that won the Dayton Public School Championship in his senior year.

Harry also competed four years on the Stivers track team, with the Shot Put being his specialty. He was Stivers top competitor in the Shot Put, finishing in the top two in the Dayton Area Track Meet in his senior year.

Harry served in the U.S. Army from 1955-57 and played semi-pro football with the Dayton Triangles for two years following his military tour of duty. He worked for 51 years in the Plumbing and Pipefitting Industry before retiring in 1996.

Harry and Kathleen have been married 52 years and have three sons; Ron and twins Terry and Tom. Older brother, Ron, taught the twins their baseball skills which allowed them to play college baseball at Old Dominion in Virginia. Terry was a catcher drafted by Seattle and played in the majors at Atlanta and Kansas City. He currently is an assistant baseball coach at UD. Tom is currently an assistant baseball coach at Sinclair College.

In retirement, Harry and Kathleen spend winters in Florida, enjoying their grandson, Tommy and they play golf four times weekly.
