Jim lettered in 3 years in football at Stivers. In 1939 and 1940 he was on the All-City Team as a guard and was Captain of the Stivers Football team in 1940. Jim was Class President of Stivers in 1937.
Jim received a football scholarship to the University of Dayton. In 1941 Jim joined the Navy and served until 1946. In 1946 he returned to UD and graduated in 1949. He was a Red Cross lifeguard, played basketball and was a fine golfer. He received his Masters Degree in 1959 from Miami University.
When Jim retired, he bought a travel trailer. Jim and his wife, Doris spent summers fishing at Lake Erie. He had 2 sons and 5 grand-children. Michael and wife Leslie had 2 daughters -Alison and Joanna. Son Mark and wife Debra had 3 sons, David, Nick and Mike (twins).
Jim died in 1984 at the age of 62.
