John Carter 1963

John Carter was a three sports star at Stivers. He was All-City First Team in football at defensive end his junior year. His senior year, he switched to offensive tackle and was named to the All-City and All-Greater Dayton First Teams.

John’s basketball career at Stivers was nearly as impressive. In 1963 he was named to the All-City Second team and was All-Greater Dayton Honorable Mention.

Carter played four years on the Stivers and Hyland Machine baseball teams. He was the starting first baseman on the 1960 team which finished third in the N.A.B.F. Class B Tourney in Altoona, PA.

John was widely recruited and accepted a football scholarship to the University of Dayton.

He is now retired from General Motors. While working at General Motors, John continued his education at Sinclair College earning a degree in electrical engineering with High Honors. He and his wife Judy have four children and nine grandchildren.
