June Zeis 1948 – Special Recognition

Tell us, what can this lady not do? And what would our Stivers family do without this truly amazing woman? Through the years she seems to be everywhere, doing everything. While most of us sit and watch, she continues to serve and to do. She is totally responsible for the Stivers High School Alumni News, an unmatched quarterly that is mailed to over 900 alumni throughout the United States and Canada. Additionally, each year she produces this Hall of Fame program book you are reading.

She works every day for the Dayton Fire Department as an administrative assistant. On Saturdays, she acts as a mediator for the Dayton Mediation Center. Yet she spends time to serve as hostess at the informal lunch gathering of Stivers alumni at the MCL Cafeteria on the first Tuesday of the month. Here she greets graduates from all classes (1934 – 1970) and hands out door prizes for the crowd of 50-60 patrons. June also volunteers as an advisor to the Kiser High School Alumni Hall of Fame Committee. She is an honorary member of their Kiser Alumni Assoc.

She attends most of the events held by the current Stivers School for the Arts, as well as our Alumni meetings and events. This tireless woman is truly indefatigable and indispensable for all that is Stivers. June personifies all that is so special about Stivers.

June’s brother, Jean Keck, played football for the Tigers, graduating in 1951. She had six children – (All DJ’s) ; Donald Jan, (Jan is an Ohio High School Official for Baseball, Softball and Football) Diane June, Dawn Jean, Dale Joy, David Jon (deceased) and Dean Jay. June‘s husband, Donald L. Zeis, passed away in 1996.
