Patty Greger was an outstanding gymnast for coach Joe Sullivan. As a freshman she was the City of Dayton champion on the Trampoline. The next year she not only won the Gold medal on the Trampoline but also the Bronze medal on the Balance Beam.
In 1962 Patty was named “Miss Fitness” by the Dayton city schools.
In 1963 in the city of Dayton meet Patty won her third Gold meda on the Tramp and added a Gold metal in Floor Exercise.
In 1964 Patty won her fourth Gold medal on the Trampoline and the Silver on the Balance Beam and Bronze in Floor Exercise.
Womens’ gymnastics had not yet been expanded to District and State competition.
Some of Patty’s other accomplishments at Stivers include Home Coming Queen in 1963, Prom Court in 1964, Drill Team Captain in 1964 and she was on the journalism staff.
College scholarships in womens’ gymnastics were rarely offered in those days or she surely would have been a prime candidate.
Patty was employed by Monarch Marking for twenty eight years. She married Stivers Athletic Hall of Fame member Bill Wikle in 1965. They have two children, Annette and Billy, four grandchildren and are residents of Beavercreek, Ohio.
