David H. Biddle – Class of 1967

David Biddle was an outstanding all-around athlete for the Tigers and remains that to this day. He played football 4 years and earned All-City 2nd Team Honors his senior season. He was also on the gymnastics team all 4 years during an era when Stivers was a powerhouse coached by Joe Sullivan.. And in his Senior year placed 5th on the Pummel Horse at the state meet. David also played baseball 2 years and basketball 1 season.

After graduating from Stivers, David focused on his family and work. He coached cross country, track, flag football, and softball while teaching at two Christian schools in Texas and Dayton.

When his children finished their education , David found 5K races challenging. He was quite proud when his family ran several Air Force 5K races together. In 2014 nineteen family members joined him in that event.

About 8 years ago David’s wife Jackie became seriously ill with a rare disease and he became her fulltime caregiver. He also became motivated to take better care of himself. David decided that the Half-Ironman competition (70.3 miles of swimming, cycling, and running) would be a great way to stay healthy. He has also been doing triathlon races with his grandsons, Levi and Andrew. Since turning 70, David has done quite well in his age bracket. He’s ranked in the top five for dozens of races in the past three years, including half ironmans, triathlons, and 5Ks.

David’s wife Jackie passed away on April 6, 2023. He is strengthened by one of his favorite Bible verses, “I can do all things through Christ”. He and Jackie have 3 children and 11 grandchildren.
